Movies I rented
January 24, 2006
well, not that i'm straying or anything. I went a little wild tonight (usually i'm perfectly calm when renting movies), but all the new releases got the best of me.
So, tonight I have the following movies to watch, reviews will come after I watch them of course.
1. Grizzly Man
2. The Aristocrats
3. The Constant Gardner
4. Lord of War
5. Palindromes (just so you know Todd Solondz owns)
6. ThumbSucker
thats it for now.. updates coming soon :)
MOVIES UPDATE:
Lord of War: I give it 3.5 stars out of 5. It was pretty good, but never summed up a few things (did he contract aids?).. the imagery was pretty damn cool, could have had a few more action scenes though.. rent it don't buy it..
Aristocrats: 4.7 out of 5. Hahahaha. This movie was great. I had heard this joke and a few of it's iterations before, but I never knew how far it really goes, and how far back it goes in comedy history. Pollack's impression of christopher walken is top notch too! hahaha. seriously, if you like comedy, and like to learn about history at the same time definatly check this one out...
Grizzly Man: 4.5 out of 5.What an incredible movie. I mean, sure this guy was a little eccentric (okay, maybe a lot eccentric). But you have to give him props for actually standing up to "the man" and doing what he believes. I think that's what werner was trying to portray in this movie. As stupid as this guy was for hanging out with bears all damn day, he was still extraordinary for actually following his dreams and making them happen. This movie was absolutely beautiful, from the vast landscapes of Alaskan tundra and mountains to the close up shots of him playing with his pet foxes and bears. Way cool stuff. Anyway, If you have any semblence of what living is really all about, i'd recommend you watch this movie ASAP.
FREE Telephone Reminder System for
January 24, 2006
This stuff is damn cool. I love to see people thinking up all sorts of neat little programs to interface with asterisk. I think 2006 will show much more of these cool things, both on the business, personal, and HPACV side of things.
When I was younger i started working on a program called "warbeep" that was for mass page bombing people, or sms'ing and had all these cool options.. I should try and find the old source and menus and recreate it for asterisk as the ultimate piss off your friends tool...
anyways, enough rambling and check out this cool reminder thing for asterisk...
"The reminder system is actually quite simple to use. You dial extension 1-2-3 on your Asterisk system, enter your password, and then you'll be prompted to record a reminder message. Next you enter the phone number, date, and time for delivery of the reminder message. When the appointed date and time arrives, Asterisk will place the call to the number you specified using your default dialing rules and will play the customizedreminder when the call is answered. If the call is not answered, the callwill be repeated n number of times with a delay between calls of x minutes before giving up on the call. You'll get an email with the call reminder setup if desired. You also get to configure the number of retries and the delay between calls."

New IDEFisk for MAC and Linux and Windows
January 22, 2006
New IAX2 Softphone iDEFISK has some new versions available for mac, win and linux. Pretty cool. I've been using this phone on my desktop and laptop under windows for some time now. It's exciting that I can now use something that actually works well under Linux and still get IAX2.. I've had not too good of luck with other IAX2 capable softphones under linux. Mind you I've not tried them in about 6 months so they may have advanced quite a bit...
anyhow, check out the idefisk softphone for your os: Mac, Win, Linux
Asterisk 1.2.2 Released!
January 19, 2006
[from: asterisk main page]
Greetings everyone!
The 1.2.2 versions of Asterisk, Zaptel, and Libpri have now been released. The source tarballs are available for download on ftp.digium.com. For details about what has changed, see the ChangeLog for Asterisk, Zaptel, or Libpri.
We are also excited to announce the release of a special version of Asterisk 1.2.2, called Asterisk-NetSec. It includes some very exciting features not available in any other version of Asterisk, or even any other related product! Please view the appropriate README and ChangeLog for more details.
Asterisk-addons and Asterisk-sounds will remain at version 1.2.1. Previously, all packages were updated to reflect a matching version number, even if no changes have been made. From now on, releases will only be made when changes have actually been made. Even if version numbers do not match, it is safe to use all of these releases together, as long as all of them are the latest version available.
Thank you!
Laptop is finally coming online!
January 17, 2006
Well, after a turmulous time trying out various operating systems on the laptop (solaris x86, mac osx 86, ubuntu, suse) i've decided to go back to good old faithful Gentoo.
I'm just now compiling a modularized version of X11 7.0. Yay for bleeeeeeding edge. Soon I'll be toip'ing (new verb i coined which stands for "talk over ip") to people from an uber leet gentoo laptop...
stay tuned for more info :)
Might have this place cleaned up
January 16, 2006
Well... not that I was really spending my life trying to get this place back up to par, i was bored this morning at 7:06am and dedided I might as well.
Thus, the stupid spam referrers have been deleted from the database, and the two ip's that were causing me to get over 1.3 gigs of traffic a month have been blocked.
Anyway... things should be better around here, and i'll be updating more now that it's not so oogly :)
damn spammers..
Asterisk.Annoy 1.5 Released!
January 13, 2006
Ha!
This is pretty cool, check out what this guy made... yay for opensource...
After releasing Asterisk .Annoy, a program that I wrote to get back at someone who kept prank calling me, stonersavant thought it would be a good idea to add some additional functionality to the program allowing the user to set their own variables. The program has loads of new features now including seven different annoying sound clips to choose from, the option to set your Caller ID, the number of calls to place, and the time between calls. He also added a really cool looking Asterisk Underground interface to the whole thing! Much better than my plain white page. He even took the time to write up a detailed README file to help everyone set the program up, something I neglected to do initially.
