Phiber Optik releases Project MF, bluebox for Asterisk

July 30, 2006

Found this over at our friends at daily phreak...

From the developers bbs

Project MF is a living, working simulation of analog SF/MF signalling just as it was used as the standard in the public switched telephone network up until the early 90's, when most everything was cut-over by the regional Bells to the fully-digital SS7/ISDN network as it continues today.
Project MF is intended as a way of preserving an important part of telco history, and should fascinate both new-comers and old-timers alike. In this simulation, I've allowed for "SIGnalling Irregularities" or "SIGIs" in telco parlance: the ability to inject 2600Hz single-frequency (SF) trunk idle/busy supervisory tones from "external sources", as well as the multi-frequency (MF) tone-pairs used to signal telephone calls as well as hidden internal routing codes on the network. In a word, blue-boxing!

Phiber Optik's recreation of analog SF/MF signalling using Asterisk, known as Project MF, is now up for download after his successful presentation at HOPE Number Six last weekend.

Getting it to work on your own looks like it's going to be a tough task?

alarm response code application released

July 30, 2006

Kevin Withnall Has posted details of his alarm response code application to the asterisk users mailing list.

It consists of a MySql database using triggers, and a PHPAGI script that does the calling.

Alarm Response System Home Page

Any comments or fixes are welcome.

Ill work on:

- A web setup front end so people can maintain their own areas/users/alerts etc

- The ability to alert on ?fail to close? or ?fail to open?

- The ability to alert on no comms at all for a site

- The ability to put time/day ranges in alerts

- The ability to ?sequentially? call responders instead of calling all at once

Does anyone have any other suggestions or ideas ?

Thanks.

From the voipsa mailing list, looks like a new utility has been released to aide in network security assessment, or cracking depending on what "hat" you wear.

SIPcrack-0.1 - SIPcrack is a SIP protocol login cracker. It contains 2 programs, SIPdump to sniff SIP logins over the network and SIPcrack to bruteforce the passwords of the sniffed logins.

Download the app directly here: http://www.codito.de/prog/SIPcrack-0.1.tar.gz
