New Jabberd2 Release – XMPP enable your Asterisk Server

December 2, 2006

Looks like a new version of jabberd2 has been released on the public. Not that this is really VOIP news, but it is indirectly. I've been using XMPP along with my asterisk server for almost 3 years now for presence notifications, incoming callerid alerts and other fun stuff. It's a great way to mess around with the instant messaging capabilities of asterisk, without having to sign up for google talk (thus keeping all your communications secure, on your own server).

Anyhow, this isn't your only option for a jabber server, but besides Ejabberd or a commercial solution, jabberd2 is probably your best bet so check out the release notes after the jump.
