GL’s PCI Based Universal T1 E1 Cards

January 29, 2012

Gaithersburg, Maryland, USA (PRWEB) October 11, 2011

GL Communications Inc. in a press statement, conveyed today the availability of its versatile PCI Based Universal T1 E1 Cards- that provide comprehensive and versatile T1 or E1 testing capability. Mr. Vijay Kulkarni CEO of the company said, The Universal HD T1 E1 is an enhanced PC-Based T1 and E1 solution that utilizes familiar computer user interfaces, to provide comprehensive and versatile T1 or E1 testing capability at a competitive price.

The Universal HD T1/E1 card is capable of both T1 and E1 interfacing. This features in-service monitoring and emulation of T1 and E1 circuit connections. It provides out-of-service troubleshooting such as bit-error-rate testing, alarm monitoring, signaling bit manipulation and recording, DTMF/MF generation and detection, and Drop and Insert capabilities.

He added, The T1 (E1) Pulse Mask Application compares incoming T1 (E1) pulses against the pulse shape mask specified by the ITU G.703 standard. Jitter measurement application can measured in the incoming T1/E1 signal for any unwanted variations. Graphical views simplify the understanding of PCM data. Time-domain is presented using an oscilloscope display, and frequency domain using spectral displays. Besides providing access to in-band PCM data, the T1 (E1) provides VF interface for monitoring and inserting audio with Drop and Insert. The unit also provides convenient handset interface for voice over the T1 or E1 line.

Mr. Kulkarni further added, Remote testing and monitoring can be done using simple script based or GUI based client software.

Precision Delay Measurement under basic software measures the Round trip Delay of a system. Round trip delay measurement is done by sending a BER pattern with the insertion of an errored bit and timing the reception of the errored bit. Measurement is precise and accurate to the microsecond level. A delay up to 8 seconds can be measured. The internal delay of the card is subtracted from the round trip delay.

Some of the Important Features

Universal Boards are capable of T1 and E1 interfacing. Only software drivers differentiate whether T1 or E1 signals are being processed.
Universal boards can be plugged into either a 5 V or 3.3 V PCI bus., i.e. (PCI 2.1 Complaint)
Smaller Size The boards are smaller, with dimensions are 4.2" x 7.1" vs. the older boards 4.2" x 9.2"
High Density and High Speed - The boards are significantly faster, and significantly more efficient than the older boards. The new boards use DMA and a 32-bit wide bus.
CPU Utilization - CPU utilization with the boards is negligible. For example, one can simulate echo on hundreds of timeslots by running simultaneously "delay/attenuate" on all 24 T1 ports on all timeslots. The new boards are compatible with dual processor motherboards and software that simulates dual processors (i.e. hyperthreading)
Universal boards have adjustable transmit clock frequency (+ / - 300ppm) for testing frequency lock sensitivity of T1 or E1 equipment. The transmit clock can be adjusted + / - 300 PPM

Asterisk Book Now Available

January 28, 2012

(PRWEB) October 7, 2005

Packt Publishing is pleased to announce the release of its hugely anticipated book Building Telephony Systems with Asterisk, which is billed as an easy introduction to using and configuring Asterisk to build feature-rich telephony systems for small and medium businesses.

Asterisk is an open source software implementation of a telephone Private Branch Exchange (PBX). Like any PBX, it allows a number of attached telephones to make calls to one another, and to connect to other telephone services including the public switched telephone network (PSTN). Asterisk also supports a wide range of Voice over IP (VoIP) protocols, including SIP and H.323. Asterisk can interoperate with most SIP telephones, acting both as registrar and as a gateway between IP phones and the PSTN.

This book shows readers how to build a telephony system for their home or business using Asterisk. Building Telephony Systems with Asterisk takes readers step-by-step through the process of installing and configuring Asterisk. It shows how to make a deployment plan, and how to create a dial plan. The book also presents example configurations for using Asterisk in three different scenarios: for small and home offices, small businesses, and Hosted PBX.

With an engaging style and excellent way of presenting information, this book makes a complicated subject very easy to understand.

Aculab Announces Support for Digium Asterisk Business Edition

January 27, 2012

Milton Keynes, UK and Huntsville, AL (PRWEB) October 14, 2005

Aculab has today announced that Prosody PCI, their media processing resource card will be verified to work with Digiums Asterisk Business Edition, the professional-grade version of the Digium Asterisk open-source PBX. With the agreement, Aculab and Digium will ensure Prosody PCI will continue to complement future versions of Asterisk Business Edition, based on Digiums Interoperability Test Suite.

Digium, the creator of Asterisk and pioneer in open source telephony, created Business Edition to provide enterprises with a regression-tested version of Asterisk, warranted and backed by Digium Technical Support. Under Digium's Interoperability Certification Program, complimentary products such as Prosody PCI are verified to assure that supported features work well with Asterisk Business Edition. Asterisk supports a full spectrum of hardware from several different vendors, says Jim Webster, Director of Software Technologies for Digium, Inc. We welcome Aculab into our Interoperability program, and believe their products will present our customers with expanded offerings for more demanding applications.

Developers looking to use the Linux-based Asterisk software to create communications solutions such as PBXs and IVRs, need a wide range of telephony interfaces and media processing resources. Developers deploying a Digium Asterisk PBX powered by Aculabs Prosody PCI can do so with confidence, knowing that Prosody PCI has been tested and proven to be a highly stable and reliable product.

Aculab has been monitoring the progression and success of Asterisk with great interest, so the decision to support Asterisk wasnt hard to make said Faye McClenahan, Head of Strategic Marketing. We are very pleased to include Digium as one of our partners and provide further options to our customer base through our support of Asterisk Business Edition.

Prosody PCI benefits from Aculabs extensive range of protocols and host independent approvals. This opens up the doors for solution providers, who can now deploy Asterisk Business Edition PBXs around the globe. In addition, because Aculab has gained many host independent approvals, the system does may not need to gain further approval in order to connect to a network.

Each Prosody PCI card can support up to four E1 or T1 trunks and offers up to 128 channels of media processing. The terminations are configured for E1 or T1 under software control, and can run a wide range of protocols including SS7. Prosody offloads DTMF detection and call bridging from the host when used with Digiums Asterisk. Prosody provides a further rich set of media capabilities through on-board DSPs, such as echo cancellation, conferencing, fax, and speech recognition which could be enabled under Asterisk. The Prosody drivers for Asterisk are available cost-free in source code form, from Aculabs website (http://www.aculab.com) via the software downloads page, and will be included in Digium's Asterisk Business Edition.
