The annual ACM Computer and Communications Security Conference is a leading international forum for information security researchers, practitioners, developers, and users to explore cutting-edge ideas and results, and to exchange techniques, tools, and experiences.  The conference seeks submissions from academia, government, and industry presenting novel research on all practical and theoretical aspects of computer and communications security, as well as case studies and implementation experiences. Papers should have relevance to the construction, evaluation, application, or operation of secure systems. Theoretical papers must make a convincing argument for the practical significance of the results. All topic areas related to computer and communications security are of interest and in scope.

Accepted papers will be published by ACM Press in the conference proceedings. Outstanding papers will be invited for possible publication in a special issue of the ACM Transactions on Information and System Security.

Paper Submission Process:

Submissions must be made by the deadline of April 20, 2009, through the website:

Submitted papers must not substantially overlap papers that have been published or that are simultaneously submitted to a journal, conference or workshop. Simultaneous submission of the same work is not allowed. Authors of accepted papers must guarantee that their papers will be presented at the conference.

Paper Format:

Submissions must be at most ten pages in double-column ACM format

(note: pages must be numbered), excluding the bibliography and well-marked appendices and at most 12 pages overall. All submissions must be anonymized (an author's name should only occur in references to that author's related work, which should be referenced in the third person and not overtly distinguishable from the referenced work of others). Only PDF or Postscript files will be accepted. Submissions not meeting these guidelines risk rejection without consideration of their merits.

Tutorial Submissions:

Proposals for long (3-hour) and short (1.5-hour) tutorials on research topics of current and emerging interest should be submitted electronically to the tutorials chair by May 25, 2009. The guidelines for tutorial proposal can be found on the website.

Elastix workshop in Toronto; Wed Nov 26th, 2008

This Wednesday, November 26th, the Toronto Asterisk Users Group invites all in the area to join us for a telephony workshop and talk sponsored by Sangoma Inc.[1]

Jose Landivar, co-founder of PaloSanto Solutions[2], creators of Elastix, will be running a "getting started" workshop on Elastix, followed by a talk discussing how it differs from other Asterisk-based distributions, and a road map of the project's future.

Elastix[3] is an open source asterisk-based linux telephony appliance that integrates tools such as OpenFire IM Server, SugarCRM, mail services, and billing software into a single, easy-to-use interface. It also adds its own set of utilities and allows for the creation of third party modules.

HD Voice conference Friday Nov 7th @ 12 Noon EST

Hi,

This week's VoIP Users Conference will be tie the Talkshoe PSTN/SIP ULAW conference bridge to the ZipDX.com G.722-capable bridge. It may be a little crazy, but I'm looking forward to getting some explanations from David Frankel about the effects of wide band (or as Polycom calls it, "HD Voice") on conferencing.

David can probably answer any technical questions you may have about WB audio and maybe share some of the tweaks they do to keep their service working efficiently. I know for example that they have done a lot of experimentation with jitter buffers and such to get the lag down as low as possible.

As usual, the conference is open to all, your questions and shared experiences are welcome. Recordings made from both bridges will be made available and if possible, some samples of technical data of the wideband end might be viewable. That would come from the ZipDX end, not mine. I've invited Dave Nelsen, CEO of Talkshoe who has worked in the telcom industry for years and if Dave has any time to help us get info from their Talkshoe bridge, that would be interesting too.

I think this might be a fun, if slightly chaotic session so be there live if you can. If you want to try to hook up your asterisk server as a client on ZipDX, write me or mgraves and we'll get that info to you.
